Job Summary
Plans, coordinates and conducts a therapeutic recreational activities. Provides an ongoing assessment of the patients' functional level and conducts activities to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient functioning and satisfaction. Provides and leads year round activities and services for individuals. Ensures the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction.
Job Duties
- Manages the planning, implementing and directing of activities year round with a focus on developing trust, community unity, support, and development skills through appropriate therapeutic groups and individual sessions.
- Supervises the therapeutic recreation clinic and recreation room.
- Develops, reviews, and updates recreational policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Completes charting requirements, reviewing recreational assessments on patients during treatment, and updating activities and programming schedule.
- Develops and incorporates activity services into patient treatment plans.
- Performs basic maintenance of recreation areas and equipment.
- Completes maintenance work orders as necessary.
- Orders and maintains inventory of all recreation equipment and supplies.
- Inspects all equipment and facilities regularly to ensure safety.
- Conducts staff orientation for new employees and students pertaining to Therapeutic recreation services.
- Consults with medical and other relevant staff to determine patients' physical restrictions and participation level.
- Provides direct supervision for interns as needed.
- Consults and provides input as needed for performance of activity staff.

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc. (NCTRC); Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
