The Atlanta VA HCS is hiring for an Occupational Therapist (Section Chief). The incumbent of this position functions as a Supervisor of Occupational Therapy for the Rehabilitation section, and functions as an independent healthcare professional who is responsible for evaluating referred patients and establishing and executing a wide range of complex treatment plans. Supervisory, OT is responsible for the supervision, administrative management, and direction of the occupational therapy program in a rehabilitation service or equivalent service-level department which consists of three or more OTs or other multi-discipline staff. The incumbent provides supervision of key clinical and training programs, including the overall technical oversight of the OTs whom they administratively supervise. Occupational Therapy is involved in the Medical Center inpatient population, outpatients, Community Living Centers (CLC), CBOC and Palliative Care. Clinical Responsibilities: -Maintains a clinical caseload including individual and/or group treatment at the Atlanta VAMC. Exact nature of clinical responsibilities may vary depending on incumbent's areas of expertise and service line needs.. ???????- Provides clinical consultation to Atlanta VAMC clinical staff both within and outside of Occupational Therapy Exact nature of clinical responsibilities may vary depending on incumbent's areas of expertise and service line needs. ???????-Provides leadership, guidance, teaching and consultation on staff education and development to Atlanta VAMC Occupational Therapy clinical staff including residents and fellows as well as other clinical trainees and clinical staff. ???????-Represents VACO program officials at VA facility, agency, and professional meetings. ???????-Assists with the education of staff, the monitoring and making recommendations in area of Quality Assurance both regionally and nationally. ???????-Develops standards of practice and protocols for Occupational Therapy use of the Functional Independence Measurement System in Rehab Medicine for CLC. Administrative (Management) and Supervisory Responsibilities: -He/She is responsible for supporting strategic planning, budget oversight, staff recruitment and management, and quality assurance. -Has full supervisory responsibility for the Occupational Therapy staff including work assignments, rotating staff to meet changing patient/clinic needs, approval and planning of leave, performance evaluations, recommending awards, advancements, and disciplinary action. -Continuously evaluates and reviews the delivery of Occupational Therapy services and takes appropriate action when patient treatment/program problems or needs are identified. -Serves as a consultant and resource for the Occupational Therapy staff and the Medical Center staff in the OT intervention and management of patients with complex and multiple medical problems. -Develops/maintains departmental policies and procedures that address specific clinical needs for the all areas serviced by Occupational Therapy.
