This position is within the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Service, located at the James A Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. The incumbent, as Supervisor of the KT (Kinesiotheraphy) Section, determines the rehabilitation center's need for professional services in all rehabilitation services, including promoting and developing cooperation with other services in the Medical Center and CBOC's. The Kinesiotherapy (KT) Section Supervisor, James A Haley VA Medical Center, directs a clinical, education, training program of considerable scope, complexity, and impact encompassing clinical care. The incumbent supervises 19 or more GS-11 and GS-12 Kinesiotherapists as well as 1 GS-6 Kinesiotherapy Assistant and ensures that referrals are processed, treatments provided, and documentation is completed according to JCAHO and service policies. Major Duties may include: Supervise all key clinical/ training programs, directly or indirectly, and or participates directly in the wide, comprehensive, and complex range of services provided by any or all KT staff members and or trainees, including the monitoring of clinical, technical, and clerical productivity and the quality of care at the service and provider levels, taking corrective action when necessary to promote the highest level of quality care. Assigns work to employees/provides workload/overflow coverage for KT staff due to scheduled leave, unforeseen absences of staff: Ensures adequate clinical staffing. Meets regularly with designated therapists to review and discuss service management and clinical issues, developing ongoing projects and goals to meet the needs of service customers, including the formulation and continuing revision of the service performance improvement plan. Develops/implements new treatment interventions and goals which apply current research findings; performs complex treatment procedures and modifies the treatment intervention according to patient's response to treatment, patient's changing medical condition and variance in patient's functional needs. Prepares and skillfully communicates/presents written and oral reports when applicable for the patient, patient's family, caregivers, patient's physician(s), nursing staff, fellow therapists and all other professionals concerned with the patient's care. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. You may be required to work rotating shifts nights, weekends, holidays. (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor).
