The Safe Patient Handling and Mobility(SPHM) Program Coordinator provides leadership and assumes continuing responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance, and evaluation of the Safe Patient Handling program at the facility level. This includes integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities. The SPHM Program Coordinator must collaborate, elicit support, and network with interdisciplinary personnel, SPHM experts/resources outside the facility and the VA Safety Center and equipment vendors. The SPHM Program Coordinator must possess solid interpersonal and collaboration skills and must also demonstrate well-honed communication abilities. As such the SPHM Program Coordinator must be a team player that clearly illustrates how the SPHM program segues with and complements existing programs. Serves as a resource for the facility regarding SPHM. Plans, develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates comprehensive, complex facility SPHM planning and program development for the prevention of employee and patient injuries. Leads interdisciplinary teams and committees toward the goal of eliminating employee and patient injuries. Leads the development, expansion, and maintenance of the SPHM Unit Peer Leader (unit/service champions) program. Trains, coaches, assists, and evaluates the competency assessment of front line VHA health care workers in use of SPHM equipment and program elements. Implements programs, policies, and procedures to meet program goals, policy, and external accreditation and regulatory requirements. Identification, proposal, and oversight of SPHM equipment to meet current and future facility needs. Communication of SPHM goals and objectives, trends in employee and patient injuries and SPHM Program status to facility leadership. Monitors outcomes, participates in strategic planning, and implements strategies for program improvement. Oversight of SPHM in all relevant clinical areas. Oversight of facility SPHM bariatric issues. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, occasional off tours. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
