The Sleep Technologist independently performs prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring studies to patients. This position analyzes the results to aide clinicians with diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and care of patients. This position acts as a resource to the department. Position Available: Per Diem (on call, as needed) 12 hour shifts, Nights 1900-0700
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day. High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), Registry by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST), or possession of the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) credential from the American Association for Respiratory Care. If employee possesses CRT, RRT, CPFT or RPFT only, the employee must sit for the RPSGT exam via the healthcare credential pathway, and pass the exam within one year of hire. Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Clinical knowledge typically achieved within 3 years of experience in all aspects of sleep disorders testing. Proficient in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep testing and a thorough knowledge of the sleep/wake cycle and its pathologies as well as EEG theory appropriate to sleep monitoring and cardiopulmonary physiology during sleep.
