You Will Be Responsible For:

• Collect and analyze family pedigree and patient histories (peds and adult) regarding potential CV genetic diseases; inpatient and outpatient.
• Develop and implement evidence-based strategies to improve care quality.
• Communicate with the Administrator, Medical Geneticist and Medical Director, keep them informed and seek assistance with unfamiliar procedures and techniques to ensure delivery of effective patient care.
• Track and monitor program activity with monthly reporting to Cardiovascular Institute Administration - patient volume, testing data.
• Educate and communicate in a manner that is conducive to understanding to all involved parties, including the AdventHealth administrative team and the population at large regarding Cardiovascular Genetics and Genomics.
• Perform genetic risk calculations and educate families about potential health risks.

• Master of Science Degree in Genetic Counseling
• Certified Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling
• Navigation of Cerner and/or Athena Electronic Medical Record
• 3-5 years prior experience in genetic counseling (Preferred)
• Experience with Program Management and Development (Preferred)
• Ability to communicate and convey effectively in a supportive manner that facilitates understanding and compassion of sensitive information

The Cardiovascular (CV) Genetic Counselor will provide patients and their families with data about the risks of genetically inherited cardiovascular conditions. The counselor will also offer education and counseling regarding the value, risk and benefit of genetic counseling. The CV Genetic Counselor will be working closely with the Medical Geneticist, Cardiologists and the Nurse Navigator to conduct outpatient and inpatient visits, implement testing strategies, provide genetic counseling, discuss test results and assist in the coordination of necessary ancillary or consultative services. The CV Genetic Counselor also serves as a resource for patients, physicians and allied professionals, providing education, quality improvement and consultant services.
