Summary of Duties: Washington State University College of Veterinary is looking for a full time counselor. This is an annual, non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Counseling and Wellness in the College of Veterinary Medicine and will report to the Director of Counseling and Wellness and to the Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs.
The majority of the position effort is to provide wellness, mental health, and academic counseling and coaching to veterinary students, veterinary house officers and graduate students. Other efforts will be devoted to consulting with faculty and staff members or groups regarding veterinary student wellbeing, mental health concerns, and group dynamics, proactively providing wellbeing, informational and educational programming about personal, relational, academic and other issues throughout the academic year.
The position serves as a liaison with agencies and programs outside of the college to provide well-being, and related programming to students and/or faculty and will work in partnership with experts in diversity and inclusion to provide educational opportunities for students, staff, faculty, and house officers.
Required Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, and experience working with university and/or adult populations.
Must have or meet qualifications for licensure in the State of Washington within one year of hire. Job continuation contingent on this being met.
Desire to work as part of a team-centered department focused on all aspects of student wellbeing and mental health care.
Ability to balance work and tasks based on changing environments, requests and needs.
Demonstrated commitment to working collegially and collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies.
