Under the supervisionof the Cardiopulmonary leadership,the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing Respiratory Therapy andCardiac Diagnostic Testing services in accordance with specific physicianâsorders and department policies and procedures.
The RespiratoryTherapist may be required to deliver respiratory care services to patients inall areas of the hospital (e.g., intensive care units, medical and surgicalfloors, emergency departments, post-anesthesia care units and infantnurseries.)The therapist must be ableto adapt to the particular area of duty assignment and must be able to performspecial duties required by the assignment.Standards of performance for the area to which the individual isassigned must be maintained.
The Respiratorytherapist coordinates and provides direct patient care, participates in patientand family teaching and works cooperatively with all patient team personnel inmaintaining standards for professional Respiratory Care practice in theclinical setting.
The therapist may beassigned orientation and inservice education responsibilities.
Respiratory Therapistsare generally expected to perform their duties and responsibilities with onlyminimal or indirect supervision and must frequently make independent decisions.
The RespiratoryTherapist will also perform all additional duties as assigned by the departmentdirector.
Required: AS or equivalent from an AMA accredited respiratory care program.
Required: RCP or equivalent State licensure; BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
