To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/primary responsibilities of the Teleassessor/Intake Counselor. This position requires the skill and ability to assess patients' needs for therapeutic services, calmly handle high-stress situations, and make appropriate recommendations. The position requires in-depth knowledge and specialized training in mental and behavioral health issues, and it requires meticulous recordkeeping and documentation.
The Intake Counselor:
Provides video, telephonic and in person intake and risk assessments
Provides crisis intervention,
Makes initial contact with referral sources and potential patients
Coordinates the referral and intake process,
Determines appropriate level of care,
Facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
Assists the Physician by providing information from video or face to face clinical assessments, including the history of presenting illness, family dynamics and supporting psychosocial information.
