Shaller Gerweck Music, Inc. is a fast growing, small business that provides creative arts therapy services within medical, mental health and school settings in Salem, OR and the surrounding area. We are looking to hire both a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) who will provide group treatment and prevention services to high school students with a variety of mental health and human development needs. Services take place in both a school and a behavioral health clinic setting and address client issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, problematic behaviors, grief/loss and eating disorders. Applicants desiring part-time, three-quarter and/or full-time work will be considered.Our current team consists of two art therapists and two music therapists. We work in a behavioral health clinic and boarding school setting that serves Native teens. Collaboration occurs between the creative arts therapy team, behavioral health therapists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, dorm staff, school counselors and teachers. The behavioral health clinic provides care from a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive perspective.

A benefit stipend will be provided to a full-time hire. A budget for art/music therapy supplies and related materials/equipment will be provided. Applicants must possess the ATR-BC or the MT-BC credential, have a master's degree, and have at least one year field experience as an art or music therapist. It is preferred that applicants have experience implementing culturally sensitive art/music therapy interventions to address the needs of high-risk teens. Applicants should have experience working with an interdisciplinary team and possess strong communication and group facilitation skills. The selected applicant must complete the following as a condition of hire: provide a copy of their valid therapy license, highest college degree and current CPR certification; and demonstrate training, knowledge and/or experience related to culturally sensitive/culturally relevant art/music therapy practices as determined by Shaller Gerweck Music, Inc. based on the chosen applicant's training and experience. The selected applicant will also be required to complete a background check with fingerprinting and provide immunization records.

President and owner, Jessica Shaller-Gerweck, MM, MT-BC is a board certified music therapist with fifteen years of experience in medical and mental health settings. She has advanced training in trauma, grief and loss, neurologic... rehabilitation techniques, music and imagery and stress/pain management. Jessica specializes in culturally sensitive and relevant music therapy for at-risk youth that is holistic in nature and promotes resiliency and skill development. Jessica provides music therapy sessions, creative arts therapies program development and music for wellness/prevention. Scott Gerweck is co-owner and offers music recording, composition, arranging and engineering services, as well as instrumental lessons, live performance and conducting.
