GENETIC COUNSELOR-OBSTETRICS: The genetic counselor for obstetrics is responsible for providing prenatal and preconception genetic counseling consultation to clients with emphasis on risk assessment of fetal genetic condition(s), recurrence risk of genetic condition(s) and/or birth defect(s), education on appropriateness and availability of genetic tests, interpretation, testing follow-up and referral to appropriate resources, if necessary. Genetic counselor is required to collaborate with other healthcare providers/departments within and outside of TriHealth Women’s Institute to coordinate prenatal or preconception evaluation. Genetic counselor must provide expertise in the development and coordination of prenatal or preconception genetic testing. Genetic counselor must provide accurate documentation of genetic consultation within EMR. This genetic counselor must serve as a resource to internal and external health care providers, laboratories, support staff and students regarding genetic testing and follow-up. This position requires performing formal/informal education as needed, and performing research when appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Master's Degree Genetic Counseling from an accredited institution, or completion of the Master’s degree and board certification and licensure within 1 year of hire. BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) Board certified or Board eligible-American Board of Genetic Counseling Licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Customer focused. Computer skilled. Experience with EMR-EPIC. Knowledge and interest in OB genetics.
