This full-time tenure track faculty position in the Department of Psychology and Counseling with primary assignment to the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program. The position is open rank and begins fall 2018. It is expected that relatively soon after hire this faculty member will be willing to take on a leadership role in the department's graduate program in clinical mental health.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach 12 credits per semester of graduate and/or undergraduate level courses.
  • Advise graduate and undergraduate students in major or in research.
  • Participate in departmental functions and university-wide services.
  • Pursue scholarship in the discipline.
  • Ability/willingness to teach in different formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online), different locations and in the evening.
  • Integrate the Mercy core values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-approved program (ABD will be considered).
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the college/university level. 
  • Evidence of scholarly potential.
  • Pursue a scholarly agenda as per university tenure requirements.
  • Commitment to student development.
  • Ability to teach in lecture, online, or hybrid modalities
  • Regularly assess the outcomes of courses taught and make improvements.
  • Willingness to teach in general education psychology or CORE courses.
  • Participate in departmental functions, including program development, assessment and accreditation.
  • Teach at Lakewood campus, off site locations or in evening
  • Advise and mentor students, including their research and internships.
  • Participate in departmental functions such as Open House, etc.
  • Engage in university-wide service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
