Provides education to the public and professionals regarding individual cancer risk screening. Provides direct risk assessments and couseling, maintains accurate referral resources for patients and families.
The Genetic Counselor will be responsible for:
Obtaining medical and family histories.
Facilitate genetic testing based on established criteria
Participate in Multidisciplinary conferences and clinics
Community education and outreach
Communicate risks to patients and physicians and recommend evidence-based surveillance based on testing results
Pre and Post-test counseling.
Staying current with research and evidence based recommendations
Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Board certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
A minimum of three years of directly related experience, preferred.
