The Department of Journalism, Communication Studies, and Visual Art seeks to fill a faculty position in the Creative Arts Therapy program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the undergraduate Creative Arts Therapy Program, overseeing internships, curriculum development, accreditation, community relationships, teaching in the general art curriculum, and planning for a graduate Art Therapy program. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will possess the credentials to teach a wide range of art therapy courses while serving as director of the program. Candidates should have a commitment to excellent teaching and service, including participation in student advising, recruitment and retention.
Substantial professional experience as an art therapist, demonstrated studio and professional engagement, a terminal degree, and ATR-BC are expected. Prior college teaching and administrative experience is preferred, as is experience in curriculum development at the university level. Experience with grant writing, accreditation, community involvement, and a personal studio art practice are desirable. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and the drive to represent WLU’s Creative Arts Therapy program at the state and national level.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. This position includes a comprehensive benefit package. Anticipated start date is January 2018.
